When installing the Storm One EMP shield, you can either perform the installation yourself or have Dark Storm Defense install it for you. The right choice depends on your technical skill level and the complexity of your vehicle’s electrical system. This assessment is based on installing EMP shields on three different vehicles.
You lack confidence working with vehicle electronics or wiring diagrams
Your vehicle uses a complex electrical architecture (such as CAN bus systems or multiple control modules)
You want to reduce the risk of incorrect wiring or component damage
The product warranty requires installation by an authorized professional
Professional installation ensures correct integration with the vehicle’s electrical system and compliance with warranty requirements.
You are comfortable working with automotive electrical systems, including power and ground connections
You have basic hand tools and a multimeter for testing voltage and continuity
You have experience performing minor automotive electrical installations or modifications
You want to avoid the €99–150 professional installation fee
A DIY installation typically involves identifying correct power sources, ensuring proper grounding, and verifying system functionality after installation.
Regardless of who performs the installation, testing is essential.
Most quality EMP shields include built-in diagnostic features or indicator lights that confirm proper power, grounding, and operational status.
